Meals on Wheels

What we offer:

  • Convenience - Meals are delivered directly to you, ready-to-eat or ready for the freezer.  There’s no shopping, cooking or clean up.

  • Independence - With Meals on Wheels, people can remain in their homes longer and enjoy more time with family and friends.

  • Safety - Meals are prepared following risk management standards, and we adhere to strict food safety and food handling practices.

  • Value - Save on the cost of food and the expense and difficulty of grocery shopping.

  • Social Interaction - Our volunteers do more than deliver meals; they provide important social contact, as well as general well-being and safety checks.

We work with an enthusiastic team of volunteers to prepare, package, and deliver nutritious, wholesome, home-style meals to anyone who requires temporary or long-term meal assistance. FCSS would like to thank Burnt Offerings located in Rycroft and their staff for their enthusiasm and commitment in preparing meals for this program as of May 2022.

Meals on Wheels prepares meals three times per week.  These meals are then delivered to client’s homes throughout the Municipalities of Spirit River, Rycroft, and MD of Spirit River #133. Referrals are not necessary for seniors 65 years and older.  Applications from those younger than 65 must meet certain criteria to qualify for our program.

Volunteers

Our volunteers are the most important ingredients in our program.  They donate their time to deliver meals and to help with our program.  They also devote their time in providing valuable social interaction by visiting with clients, checking to see that clients are well, in addition to delivering smiles and laughter. Our volunteers take an hour out of their day to drive meals to our client's homes Monday, Wednesday, and Friday of each week.
